Hotels, footbridges, & parking near the venue

Hotel Recommendations

River Café sits on Prince's Island Park in the heart of downtown Calgary, so most of our guests choose to stay nearby. We haven't set aside a room block, but to make planning easy we've gathered a few hotels close to the venue below. They're simply convenient options near River Café, so choose whatever suits you best.

  • Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Calgary Downtown, about 1 km from the venue.
  • Amenida Residences Calgary, about 4 km from the venue.
  • Hotel Arts Kensington (formerly Kensington Riverside Inn), 1126 Memorial Drive NW, in Kensington across the river.
  • Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire, 255 Barclay Parade SW, in Eau Claire.

Getting to the venue

There is no vehicle access onto Prince's Island Park. River Café is reached on foot across one of the footbridges:

  • The Eau Claire pedestrian footbridge at the end of 2nd Street SW, east of Eau Claire Plaza, at the southeast end of the island.
  • The Jaipur Bridge from the Bow River Pathway, reached via 3rd Street SW (by the Sheraton Eau Claire), 2nd Street SW, 5th Street SW, or 6th Street SW.
  • From Eau Claire Avenue SW at 5th Street SW or 6th Street SW.
  • From Memorial Drive NW, crossing to the island by the bridge at the Calgary Curling Club, on the north side.

Parking

River Café has no designated parking. Nearby options:

  • The Calgary Parking Authority lot off Memorial Drive NW, by the Calgary Curling Club on the north side, with free parking after 6:00 PM. Cross to the island on the Memorial footbridge.
  • Street parking on Eau Claire Avenue SW between 4th Street SW and 6th Street SW, with access over the 6th Street SW causeway or the Jaipur Bridge from the Bow River Pathway.
  • Eau Claire Market surface lot #179, at 3rd Street SW and 2nd Avenue SW, across from the Sheraton Eau Claire.

Travel notes

  • We'd suggest taking a ride-share or taxi to and from the venue. There will be wine to enjoy, and we want everyone home safely, so please don't drink and drive.
  • Calgary International Airport (YYC) is roughly 20 minutes away by ride-share outside of peak traffic.
  • Public transit: the closest CTrain stations are 7th Street SW (Red Line) & Centre Street.
